Meet the New Owners: The Heart Behind the Next Chapter of Market Blooms

For more than three decades, Market Blooms has been a part of the heartbeat of downtown Columbus. Since 1990, the shop has served the community through celebrations, milestones, everyday moments, and everything in between. To step into the role of owners is both incredibly exciting and deeply meaningful for our family.

As the new owners of Market Blooms, we want to begin by expressing our deepest gratitude to the previous owner, Marty. She is truly a visionary and an incredible steward of this business. From the very first time we met her, we instantly connected — it felt natural, effortless, and clear that our values aligned. We are so thankful for her trust, her support, and the beautiful foundation she has built here. We feel honored to carry her legacy forward while continuing to grow it with care and intention.

Flowers have always been about more than arrangements to us. They create connection. They tell stories. They help people celebrate, comfort, gather, and remember. Whether it’s a wedding day, a corporate event, a birthday bouquet, or simply flowers picked up on a Saturday morning at the market, these moments matter — and we believe they deserve care, creativity, and intention.

The vision for Market Blooms moving forward is rooted in exactly that.

While honoring the history and charm people already know and love, we are bringing a renewed focus on elevated floral design, creative event styling, community collaboration, and meaningful customer experiences. Our goal is to make Market Blooms not only a floral shop, but a creative space that inspires people and brings beauty into everyday life.

From the beginning, this opportunity has felt especially meaningful to us. We are deeply passionate about the small business community and incredibly excited to be part of the iconic North Market Downtown community. Being surrounded by so many talented local makers, chefs, and entrepreneurs is something we truly value, and we feel grateful to contribute to that ecosystem.

One of our biggest goals is to actively support and uplift other small businesses alongside our own. With that in mind, we recently launched our boutique program — a curated space within the shop dedicated to showcasing local artisans and small business owners. This program allows us to highlight handcrafted goods, introduce customers to new makers, and create another avenue for community connection and collaboration.

In a way that still feels incredibly special to us, the day we officially took over the shop was also the day our daughter was born. It’s a story we know we’ll tell forever — welcoming both a new business and a new baby into our lives at the exact same time felt deeply meaningful. From the very beginning, this journey has felt like it was meant to be.

Because of that, our rebrand is deeply personal and rooted in her.

We wanted to preserve the name Market Blooms — a name that is already so beloved and recognized in the community — while layering in our own story and family identity. Our new branding is centered around our daughter, June. In her honor, our new logo features a june bug, a small but meaningful symbol that represents new life, growth, and the beginning of something beautiful.

This new chapter also brings a refreshed visual direction for the shop. Our color palette leans into earthy, botanical greens — fresh, grounded, and organic tones that reflect both nature and the heart of what we do. It’s a look that feels alive, intentional, and connected to the natural beauty of flowers themselves.

At the center of all of this is people.

This new chapter is being built on relationships — with longtime customers, new visitors, fellow small businesses, talented vendors, and the community that has supported Market Blooms for so many years. Our hope is that this is not just a new chapter for us, but something that continues to grow far beyond us. We feel incredibly grateful to be building something that we hope can live on through our family for generations to come.

Whether you’ve been visiting Market Blooms for years or are discovering us for the first time, thank you for being here. We cannot wait to share what we’re creating.

This is only the beginning.
